For your viewing pleasure:

So far so good with the exercise program at the gym. Nutrition seriously sucked though. Bringing my journal in on Monday was embarrassing. But that gave me the kick in the pants that I needed to clean it up at least a little. It's still not great. (Eat a damn vegetable!) But it's better. More gym tonight. Whee!

I have a lot (a LOT) of craft projects going on. Made a cute frame from recycled magazines, did my first cross stitch, and spent a gob of money on cloth for a lap quilt I'm making for a swap. Fun stuff. Now if I can actually find the time to get the quilt started, I'll be in good shape!

In other news, I found a stateside source for my Kinder Egg needs. Glad some ethnic markets don't care about the stupid FDA. Makes for fun little gifts for people.

That's all!

A) I really don't like my job right now.

B) I've started the weightloss class at my gym and am enjoying it muchly.

C) I'm still a craft swapping fiend.

D) Dad's birthday was yesterday. There was Bennigans and cake.

E) Went out to eat with thirdthoughts for a belated birthday dinner on Tuesday. It was very Irish, and there was much good chat.

F) I have taken up cross-stitch. As in, I have one of those little $1.50 ornaments I'm working on to teach me to do it. So far so good. Like I need one more craft.

G) Tonight I have a doctor appointment, and then our first big kid playtime. We'll see if Lily can hold her own against some 5 and 6 year olds.

That is all. Back to hateful hateful work.

...and I'm not talking about Lily!

So, yesterday was my birthday. Not really a big deal, I went out to celebrate with family last week, so it didn't really seem like a birthday. Went to work, and found a half dozen choc. chunk cookies on my desk with a post-it that said happy birthday from a coworker. Bought lunch with coworkers for a goodbye lunch for someone's last day. After work, went and did the second part of my fitness assessment at the gym. Then went to mom and dad's for ice cream cake! Thanks dad!

Then I headed home, because my husband said he was going to make dinner.

Got home, got a kiss and a happy birthday, looked at the coffee table and there were two birthday cards, one from Lily and one from Gary, sitting on top of a box. A box with a SONY VAIO IN IT! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Best. Husband. Ever.

We don't buy each other gifts. That was established a couple years ago, and we like it like that. I don't know what possessed him, maybe he's just proud of me for getting back on the work-out wagon, but I'm so thrilled! Psyched even! It's a nice little machine. Dual-core processor, 160gb storage, 2gb RAM.... DVD, all kinds of craziness I haven't even explored yet.

Looks like I need to make myself a laptop case, eh?

So yeah, I'm a spoiled rotten baby. And I like it.

So, for Lily's birthday, back in May, part of what my parents bought for her was a big wooden swingset.

We finally put the thing together over Labor Day weekend.

Look how much fun it is!Collapse )

In other news, Lil had her 15 month check up yesterday, complete with her immunizations (3, which resulted in 30 seconds of crying total) and a recheck of her hemoglobin, which was apparently high at 1 year. That was worse, even though she didn't cry. The minutes of whimpering while they tried to squeeze enough blood out of that little finger was worse. Poor punkin. =0(

I forgot to bring her stats sheet home from the doctor, but she's still a peanut. Twenty-something percentile for her height, 51st% for her weight, and still has a huge noggin, for all them brains. Doin' a-okay says the doctor. Next checkup in three months. No more shots until pre-K! Yay!

I just signed up for a (very expensive) weight loss program at my gym.

Let's get this party started.

Or future model?

Lily knows what cameras do now. At least she has a general idea. Mom had the camera because she was taking pictures of Lily. Lily's always loved things with buttons. I took the camera and let Lily push the shutter button, while aiming it at her. Every time the flash went off, Lily forced me to turn the camera around so she could see the picture she took. It amused her for quite some time.

See?Collapse )

So. We got a little bit of extra money to do some home repairs. New carpet on the stairs, and cleaning the carpet upstairs. Hopefully seal coating the driveway and a few other things.

So what happens? In the course of 48 hours, my computer gets a (pretty nasty) virus, my dryer has decided that it doesn't have to heat up with every load, and our air conditioner has gone on the fritz. *sigh* [EDIT: FYI - Antivirus XP 2008 is not a real antivirus program.]

Luckily I think that the dryer is still under warranty, and we've got people coming out to deal with the air conditioner today. It pretty much always happens that way, though, doesn't it? Seems that if you get a windfall, or a tax return or anything, something happens, like a car problem to steal it from you. Oh well.

To make up for it, Lily is being as sweet as pie lately. She's really just a joy. We're just insanely lucky.

There's my affirmation for the day.
